Thought Leadership

Green Building Study

CBRE is collaborating with leading academics and industry partners to shed light on the value of green and to make new information available in a way that benefits the commercial real estate market.

One of our most important efforts revolves around the ongoing study, “Do Green Buildings Make Dollars & Sense?” First established with Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate (University of San Diego) in 2009 as the first and largest of its kind, the CBRE study has expanded from delivering results on productivity in the green building workplace to the financial impact of LEED certification for owners, occupiers and building managers.

Taking the Lead

Information on the latest market trends, as well as perspective on the broader changes impacting the global real estate market, provide critical insight for industry leaders to make well-informed business decisions. CBRE has teamed up with thought leaders in a variety of related disciplines to make this information readily available, and to add our own point of view on what sets green buildings apart – and how owners and occupiers can use genuine knowledge to their business advantage.

Energy Regulation Guide

Worldwide, commercial building energy rating and disclosure mandates are becoming more common as policymakers target the building sector in energy and climate protection policies. To keep the industry informed on the latest legislation impacting commercial real estate, CBRE and IMT collaborated to release the Guide to State and Local Energy Performance Regulations. The guide provides an overview of energy reporting requirements by jurisdiction, as well as a summary of pending legislation.
