The global office market recovery has been delayed by slow economic growth for the last several years and a slight recession in Europe, leading to modest leasing activity across most of the world. Nevertheless, over the past few years, average asking rents for prime office space have slowly increased in most major markets around the globe.
The Q3 2013 CBRE Global Office Rent Cycle shows a world divided into three categories. In Europe, the market has shown signs of plateauing; in the Americas, the recovery has accelerated; and, in Asia Pacific, markets were in various stages of decline or stabilization.
