The Animal Assisted Therapy Program provides a multitude of services to benefit patients at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Therapy animals and their owners are trained and nationally certified to provide therapeutic interaction with patients and their families. Group events and individual bedside visits are requested by the patient’s doctors, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, or child life specialists. The program coordinator creates a session with the patient and the Animal Assisted Therapy Program team that works toward the patient's treatment goals. These animals make a difference in the life of a sick child! They can be a distraction from a painful or scary procedure, have a therapeutic role in a child’s recovery, and be a comfort to the entire family.

"I always get a kick out of young people who “get” public service and paying their civic rent. Michael “gets it” and has chosen a program and recipient, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, with great credentials. You should only give him an audience if you are willing to say yes!" Philip L. Francis CEO and Chairman of the Board, Petsmart
“Michael has come up with a wonderful idea to support Phoenix Children’s Hospital Animal Assisted Therapy Program, an important treatment option at PCH. To think that someone Michael’s age would conceive, promote and work so diligently on this project is the most compelling reason for everyone to get behind his efforts. I encourage you to support Michael and this great cause by participating in the 2008 Swing Fore Kids Golf Classic.”
