Michael B. McShea is Executive Vice President for CB Richard Ellis’ Public Institutions and Education Solutions Team. Mr. McShea provides strategic planning and real estate services for corporations, municipal governments and higher education institutions nationwide. Mr. McShea recently joined the CBRE team as a veteran of the Staubach Company’s Education and Municipal Services practice group, which he founded.
Mr. McShea manages some of the nation’s most significant state and local government projects and portfolios. He was personally responsible for the oversight of a contract with the Government of the District of Columbia’s, involving the restructuring of over 1 million sf of municipal space under the auspices of the congressionally established Financial Control Board. He implemented real estate strategic plans for the City of New York, as well as the States of Alabama, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Colorado, Indiana and Maryland, which in total encompass over 60 million sf of facilities. Mr. McShea helped to acquire the new 600,000 sf administrative facility in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland); and led the renegotiation of the government centers in Tallahassee, Florida encompassing 1.5 million sf of leased space at a savings to the State of over $60 million. He has provided development consulting services for the American Frontier Culture Museum, the James F. Oyster School, the John Hopkins Applied Research Laboratory and the University of Cincinnati.
Mr. McShea received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Management from the University of Maryland. He was nominated by the Washington Business Journal for the Best Office Lease Transaction and Best Residential Development Transaction in 1998 and 1999, respectively. He has been a guest lecturer on various topics involving corporate, municipal and educational real estate including the National Association of College & University Business Officers (NACUBO), National Association of State Facility Administrators (NASFA) and the Keenan Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
