All About Hawaii
Hawaii consists of eight major islands with a land area of 6,423.4 square miles in the Pacific Ocean and is located about 2,400 miles from the west coast of the United States. Its major islands are Oahu, Hawaii, Maui, Molokai, Kauai, and Lanai. Many centuries ago, the Polynesian settlers found Hawaii to be the land of economic opportunity and today Hawaii continues to be seen as a unique multicultural paradise full of promise.
Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, is fast becoming a prime location for companies wishing to do business around the world. Not only does Hawaii boast of the ability to provide real-time access to the U.S. mainland, Asia and Latin America in the same business day, it has an advanced telecommunications infrastructure that includes land and undersea communications networks throughout the Pacific. Oahu-based businesses can choose from fiber optic or copper land lines, digital switching, trans-Pacific cable, or satellite access in connecting to the world. Hawaii has the most advanced telecommunications system in the world. The state boasts of being one of only five states in the U.S. with 100 percent digital switching for telephones and more fiber optic cable per mile, per capita than any other state.
The natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands coupled with great weather year round make Hawaii one of the most beautiful places in the world to live and work. The quality of life is the primary reason companies that can choose to be located anywhere in the world choose Hawaii. The temperature ranges from 60 to 90 degrees all year long and has one of the lowest crime rates in the nation. Oahu has 49 golf courses, 525 miles of hiking trails, 13 mountain bike trails, 5 major kayaking and paddling clubs and 17 life guarded beaches including the famous Waikiki beach. Oahu has hosted the Honolulu Marathon since 1973.
