Bannockburn is a quiet suburb nestled approximately 30 miles north of “The Windy City” of Chicago. Bannockburn was first settled in 1835 by Irish immigrants with the intention of creating country estates. This area has a country feel but is still very convenient to Chicago by car or train. This area supports many local businesses as well as larger companies and suburban conveniences.
This long history brings many cultural events and activities as well as local entertainment. Since 1904 Ravinia has been creating the “Sound of Summer” for the community. Bring a blanket and picnic basket and enjoy local and nationally renowned artists. The Chicago Botanic Garden is also just a short drive from Bannockburn and has provided over 300 acres of gardens, educational seminars, music and activities for its neighbors since 1972.
This area also boasts coastline along the picturesque Lake Michigan with beaches and parks for the community. Spend your day strolling down the beach, biking, jogging, cross country skiing or even shopping in one of the shopping districts in one of the quaint downtowns.
Local educational institutions include Northwestern University, Lake Forest College, Trinity International University and Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.
