Cal has expertise in developing real estate strategic plans that support the client’s primary business objectives and help increase profits and provide flexibility. These services and strategies are delivered for all real estate product types and markets around the country and internationally.
2007 was a landmark year for Cal's team. Completing three leases in excess of 200,000 SF, his team brokered the largest lease transaction in three of Chicago’s five major downtown submarkets, including the largest office lease in the metropolitan Chicago area in 2007. Cal's team represented AT&T in a saleleaseback of 972,257 SF; Blue Cross Blue Shield Association in a renewal of its 214,474 SF headquarters at 225 N. Michigan Avenue and Bankers Life and Casualty Company in a 207,536 SF renewal and consolidation for its headquarters at 600 W. Chicago Avenue.
In 2005, Cal's team completed the largest lease transactions in both the West Loop submarket (CDW Corporation – 252,000 SF) and the East Loop submarket (Health Care Service Corporation – 202,000 SF). Additionally, by virtue of these transactions they are believed to be the only tenant representation team to have completed two or more transactions of 200,000 square feet or larger in downtown Chicago in 2005. They also completed transactions for such high profile clients as the Art Institute of Chicago, RREEF, Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott and Google.
Cal's team also has experience providing national representation services for companies such as Waste Management, Blue Cross Blue Shield, CSC Networks and Peterson Worldwide. Non-transaction assignments include the development of real estate strategic plans for several companies and a successful lease audit resulting in the recapture of $900,000 for a prominent consulting firm. Finally, Cal is a member of CB Richard Ellis' Law Firm Practice Group, a group of senior CBRE professionals specializing in representing law firms.
Cal has been recognized by his peers for the industry's highest awards including: Crain's Chicago Business Office Broker of the Year in 2003 and as a finalist for the award in 2005 and 2007. He was also honored with the NAIOP Downtown Office Transaction of the Year Award in 2000 and was a finalist for the award in 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
