Exel Global Logistics Inc., an international company operating in more than 1,300 locations in over 120 countries, is one of the world's largest dedicated supply chain companies and had very specific model when it came to expansion of its facilities. Prior to working with the South Bend partner office of CB Richard Ellis, the model consisted of building field offices and maintaining separate warehouse facilities. These warehouse facilities were located in larger cities due to the need to be near major highways for efficient distribution. |

The South Bend partner office helped Exel Global Logistics create a new, more efficient model that consolidated both warehouse and office space. Industrial Specialist Sheral Litell, SIOR, first helped executives at Exel recognize that the South Bend market is the second largest in the nation in over-the-road distribution. This realization, coupled with the fact that Exel could lease office space and warehouse space much more cost effectively than in larger cities, helped this global company decide to set up an infrastructure in South Bend. Exel's new business model is a 25,640-square-foot facility that combines an office building with an attached warehouse that facilitates pharmaceutical distribution with partial cooling areas. |
