Michael R. Laginestra is Vice Chairman of CB Richard Ellis and serves on the company’s Policy Committee.  He is known for developing and executing innovative solutions to complex real estate problems.  In 35 years in commercial real estate, he has negotiated transactions totaling over 40 million sq. ft. on behalf of such companies as Viacom Inc., Macy's Inc., National Hockey League, Schulte, Roth & Zabel, Sidley Austin LLP, Sumitomo Realty, Universal Studios, Inc., Bertelsmann Inc., Clear Channel Communications, Inc., Westwood One and many others.

He is one of a select group of New York City commercial real estate professionals to garner one of the industry’s three top honors for ingenious brokerage in two consecutive years.  In 1994, Mr. Laginestra was an integral member of the team that won the Real Estate Board of New York’s Deal of the Year Award for a 500,000 square foot lease for Viacom International.  In 1995, he and his Insignia/ESG teammates earned REBNY’s Robert T. Lawrence Memorial Award for a series of transactions, aggregating to 300,000 square feet, on behalf of FCB/Leber Katz Partners, General Motors Corporation, and others.  In 2002, Mr. Laginestra and his Insignia/ESG teammates went on to earn the NAIOP Award for the Acquisition of the Year for the sale of Texaco’s, 790,000 square foot Headquarters to Morgan Stanley. Recently, Mr. Laginestra negotiated a lease for Viacom, Inc. for 1,350,000 SF—the third largest transaction ever in New York City.

Mr. Laginestra has also been active in landlord representation, serving as owner’s agent for such New York City office buildings as 150 East 42nd Street (former Mobil headquarters), 499 Park Avenue, 909 Third Avenue, 1540 Broadway, 101 East 52nd Street, 590 Madison Avenue, and 888 Seventh Avenue.

In addition to New York City, he has negotiated real estate transactions in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston and other major markets across the country.
