Stephen D. DuPlantis is currently the Senior Managing Director of the South Central Region of CB Richard Ellis, Inc., Valuation and Advisory Group. Mr. DuPlantis has over 21 years of experience in the real estate valuation and consulting business. Mr. DuPlantis began his career in September of 1983 with The Gerald A. Teel Company serving as the Office Manager before taking the position of Senior Managing Director with CB Richard Ellis. Mr. DuPlantis achieved the MAI designation in 1988 and has served on numerous committees with the Appraisal Institute and other organizations during his career as a real estate appraiser. Mr. DuPlantis served as past President of the Regional Chapter of the Appraisal Institute in 1997 and is currently an approved instructor for the Appraisal Institute.
The South Central Region is comprised of a six-state territory which includes Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas. In addition, Mexico is also in the South Central Region division. Mr. DuPlantis retains the appropriate licenses to appraise in each one of the states within the South Central Region. There are currently 25 appraisers under the direction of Mr. DuPlantis. The staff has an average of over 15 years of experience and typically specializes in a property type. The main commercial properties that are appraised include multifamily, office buildings, industrial, and retail properties. In addition to these properties, numerous other specialty use type properties are also appraised which include senior care, golf courses, self-storage, hotels/motels.
Mr. DuPlantis is in charge of the senior healthcare department for CB Richard Ellis throughout the entire United States. This involves the appraisals of skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, congregate care/retirement communities, and hospitals. A network has been developed throughout the CB Richard Ellis system in which appraisers are trained and maintain a consistency of valuation methodology for healthcare clients throughout the United States.
Mr. DuPlantis is also heavily involved in litigation support for attorneys in regard to all types of disputes and settlements in regard to commercial real estate. Appraisal work, as well as testimony has been performed for condemnation, pipeline disputes, partnership settlements, foreclosures, and mediations.
