The Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Hampton region ("Hampton Roads") is the 27th largest Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) out of 271 MSA's in the country. Hampton Roads features the largest and fastest growing port in the United States, a diverse economy, and a solid military sector with major military headquarters and the world's largest naval base. With over 1,600,000 people, Hampton Roads is the fourth largest MSA in the Southeast behind only Atlanta, Tampa/St. Petersburg, and Miami.
Rich in American history, the Hampton Roads area has a constant flow of tourism and business opportunity. Local attractions such as Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown Battlefield, Virginia Beach and local theme parks attract more than 8 million visitors providing steady business for local entrepreneurs. The area is also home to The College of William and Mary, Old Dominion University and several other accredited universities and colleges that provide access to a growing intellectual force.
