The National Air and Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center opened in December 2003 on the grounds of Washington Dulles International Airport. The new museum houses rarely seen aircraft such as the Space Shuttle Enterprise and an SR-71 Blackbird. Plans are underway for the National Army museum which will be located at Fort Belvoir and will house artifacts from the colonial times to the modern day.
