Office Description:
The City of Oakland celebrated 153 years of incorporation in 2005. Oakland, with a well-educated population of over 410,000, was recently ranked by Forbes Magazine as the 10th best city for business in the United States. Oakland and its suburbs make up the largest industrial community in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Port of Oakland is a vital component of this market's strength, enabling the region to trade with the Pacific Rim and the rest of the world. The University of California at Berkeley, California State University at Hayward and Mills College in Oakland are a few examples of the institutions of higher learning that make Alameda County one of the most educated in the world, helping to produce the innovation that powers the Oakland metropolitan economy and the Bay Area as a whole.
The Oakland office is centrally located within the Bay Area and to CBRE's other offices serving the region. Situated at the center of the Bay Area's freeway and transit networks, downtown Oakland is only minutes away from downtown San Francisco, and a short drive or train ride to Pleasanton, Hayward and San Jose. With a metropolitan area of over 2.5 million residents, Oakland is able to provide clients with an excellent employment base and a central location from which to do business.
Opened in 1925, the Oakland office is located in downtown's mixed-use City Center district, just steps away from the hubs of two of the largest regional transit systems, BART and AC Transit. The Oakland office currently employs about 45 people, including 24 sales professionals who specialize in all aspects of commercial real estate including industrial, office, multi-housing investment, and institutional sales. CBRE Oakland also offers appraisal services, project management, and mortgage banking via CBRE's L.J. Melody group. Craig Bevan, one of the Bay Area's three regional managing directors, is posted in Oakland.
