James P. Citrano joined the Jacksonville office of CB Richard Ellis, Inc., in August 1997 as Managing Director. Mr. Citrano was born, raised and educated through high school in Verona, New Jersey. After his graduation from Colgate University in 1964, he was employed by the J.C. Penney Company in a training program and left there a year later to fulfill his military obligation. Mr. Citrano served in the United States Marine Corps as a pilot during the Vietnam war and achieved the rank of Captain. He received his discharge in 1970.

Mr. Citrano re-entered the business world with Ross Perot's Electronic Data Systems Corporation in the Brokerage Industry Center in Manhattan, where he was responsible for the Industry Center's administration and real estate. He moved to Jacksonville, Florida, in 1973 and was employed by the Haskell Company and the J.A. Jones Construction Company in various phases of leasing, development and property management. He served as President of St. Johns Place, a joint venture development of Gulf United Corporation and the Freuhauf Corporation, from 1976 to 1984. From 1984 to 1993, Mr. Citrano was President and owner of St. Johns Place Development Company, a multi-faceted real estate development, management, brokerage, and service company, which he ran until he joined Gate Petroleum Company as Vice President of Gate Riverplace.
