What is the “Walk for a Wish” Charity Event?
“Walk for a Wish” is CBRE’s flagship charity event, involving more than 2,500 of our employees, clients and vendors in 22 locations across APAC.
Originating in the Pacific Region in 2010, this year we celebrate 10 years of CBRE’s Walk for a Wish. Over this time, we have raised more than US$2 million for charity.
Funds raised from Walk for a Wish have changed lives in communities across Asia Pacific and with your support in 2019, we will continue to play a deeper role in the societies where we live, work and play.

Australia
AUSTRALIA
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Walk for a Wish, CBRE Australia is going back to where it all began and digging deep for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, the original Walk For A Wish charity. With more people than ever expected to participate, we’ve set a goal of AU$225,000. This will grant upwards of 35 life-changing Starlight Wishes for seriously ill and hospitalised children and young people. Donate today and help grant a Starlight Wish for kids just like Ruby, Zackary and Freyja.

Throughout China, employees in 9 cities will join the 2019 Walk for a Wish in collaboration with the Save a Child’s Life campaign to raise funds for Operation Blessings, to support children suffering from congenital heart disease and congenital deafness. The various activities include a marathon, mountain climbing, city trekking, fruit Day, on-line donations, etc. and will be carried out in celebration of our annual CBRE charity event.

Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, we will be doing a shoreline clean up at Lei Yu Mun to help with environmental protection. The beach cleanup is just one of the many community initiatives taking place during Wellness Week. Other wellbeing activities include a marketplace specializes in hosting health related products with exclusive promotion, providing staff shoulder massage, participation in Run in the Dark, and a fresh juice giveaway.

India

For the third edition of Walk For A Wish, CBRE India will reinforce its support to the cause of building an inclusive environment for children/adults with intellectual disabilities and will create awareness about them at work places by undertaking a walk around the CBD of Gurugram, Indians millennial city.

Japan
JAPAN
The holiday season should be a special time for every child. For this year’s “Santa Project”, CBRE Japan has partnered with Futaba Musashigaoka Gakuen, an orphanage in Kodaira city. All nine offices across Japan will fundraise to purchase as many items as possible from their Christmas wish list. The CBRE Santa’s helpers will then visit the orphanage to deliver the presents and put a big smile on the children’s faces!

Korea
KOREA
CBRE Korea will carry out volunteering at a local Community Child Care center that provides educational and cultural programs to underprivileged children. CBRE will renovate old facilities by repainting and decorating the wall, and provide educational suppliers: books, desks, etc. We plan to host fundraisers to collect money for the renovation costs and the rest will be donated to the center to support the children in need.

New Zealand
NEW ZEALAND
The Auckland office will be holding a number of sessions throughout the week to enhance overall wellness. Tui Fleming will be back providing more insightful information about how to balance the demands of a busy life, covering topics on setting and achieving goals, juggling parenting and teaching us how to take a micro breaks at our desks with simple yoga movements.

One of the goals of our charity partner, ExtraOrdinary People, is to create and foster an inclusive community for special needs individuals to interact and integrate with society. With that in mind, CBRE Singapore has decided to host its first inclusive family day carnival and create an opportunity for CBRE staff and their families to engage, understand the difficulties of those with special needs and hopefully build lifelong connections with these individuals and their families.

Taiwan

Expanding the concept of wellness, Taiwan office joins APAC and launches ‘Wellness Week’, with a series of activities that promote employees’ wellbeing and work-life balance. In addition, on Saturday (16th November), Taiwan office joins local tea farmers to engage employees in building cultural inclusiveness in local communities, and encourage them to give back to the community and the Earth.

Thailand

The Bangkok office will organise a blood donation drive in collaboration with the Thailand Red Cross at our head office and the second round of virtual charity run while the Phuket office will do aerobic exercise promoting work-life balance, repair a weir, and take a 4-km. trail. In addition, both offices will participate in an upcycling project converting plastic bottles into yellow robes for monks and host a special talk on personal finance. All funds raised in this campaign plus those raised from our first round of virtual charity run in August and CBRE’s annual auction in October will be donated to Fund For Elderly by Thai Red Cross Society, Priest Hospital, and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation by Rajavithi Hospital.

Vietnam
VIETNAM
CBRE Vietnam sponsors and participates in two charity run programs for the community — the HCM City BBGV Fun Run and UPRACE 2019. There are more than 260 CBRE employees registered for the Fun Run 5 km race. For UPRACE 2019, 68 CBRE staff members have reached 1,180 km in 173 running hours. The kilometers will be converted into money and contributed to three charities in Vietnam: Newborn Vietnam, the Vietseeds Foundation and GreenViet.
