Austin Retail Market Figures Q2 2022

- Vacancy tightened in the CBD and Round Rock submarkets, registering at less than 1.2% and 3.3%, respectively, in Q2 2022.
- According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Austin’s leisure and hospitality industry led overall job growth, adding 2,800 jobs in April and 1,600 in May. This comes after 23,000 jobs were added between February 2021 and January 2022.
- Demand continued to push construction starts with 45 projects totaling over 1.1 million sq. ft. of retail product currently underway.
- The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) set the record for its busiest month in May 2022 with over 2 million passengers, up 82.7% from May 2021.
