Professional Experience
As the Chief Operating Officer for one of CBRE’s top five accounts, Bill McFarland is responsible for all day-to-day operations across a 30 million-sq.-ft. portfolio. Mr. McFarland’s responsibilities includes oversight of more than 500 team members who are working across a variety of properties including retail, office, data center and specialty assets.
Mr. McFarland joined CBRE in 2010 as an Engineering Manager. His high-energy leadership and problem-solving skills propelled him through the ranks, and he was quickly promoted to Director of Engineering and Energy. In 2012, the strong performance of the engineering team under Mr. McFarland’s leadership led to CBRE winning the facility management business for all of the client’s top tier data centers across the U.S.
During his tenure on the account, Mr. McFarland has managed during several transitions, contract changes, disaster recovery efforts and other business challenges. Through it all, he has displayed a steady and confident presence. Mr. McFarland’s talent was recognized at CBRE’s global level with a Global Corporate Services’ Leadership Award of Excellence.
Before joining CBRE, Mr. McFarland served as Operations Manager for two Fortune 500 companies, including a world headquarters in New York City with 554,000 sq. ft. of office space, and domestic data center operations in Northeast Pennsylvania. He has also held the role of Director of Electrical Engineering for a regional architectural and engineering firm, and has worked for a regional utility company as both a design engineer and new business consultant.
In his spare time, he is an adjunct professor for Wilkes University’s School of Engineering.
