Brad Cohen is a Senior Vice President in CBRE’s Midtown office specializing in landlord and tenant advisory services throughout New York City, with a focus on both retail and industrial and the intersection of these two sectors. Brad joined CBRE in 2018 from Eastern Consolidated where he, along with colleagues Jacob Tzfanya and Jon Kamali, built a successful practice that focused primarily on serving occupiers and owners in New York City’s outer boroughs.
With the continual interdependence between retail and industrial in recent years, and his understanding of bricks and mortar retail and supply chain demands, Brad has applied his experience within these areas into new real estate categories dubbed ‘flex-industrial’ and ‘flex-retail’. Through this intersection, Brad has identified opportunities for experiential, athletic entertainment and omnichannel clients and positioned properties for new end user exposure. Transactions within these flex categories include: 233 Nevins Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn, where he was instrumental in signing The Cliffs, an indoor rock-climbing chain, and 195 N Broadway in Hicksville, Long Island, where their client, iPic Theaters Inc., will open its first New York location. Brad’s background has also allowed him to provide omnichannel capabilities, including One Bulova Avenue in Queens, NY, which was successfully leased to Amazon, the sale of 1500 Basset Avenue in the Bronx, NY to Realterm Logistics, and the marketing and sale of 425 Devoe Avenue in the Bronx, NY.
At Eastern, Mr. Cohen completed hundreds of transactions while representing some of the nation's most prestigious landlords including Avalon Bay Communities, Extell Development Company, Forest City, Gotham Organization, Related Companies, and RREEF. He has leased on behalf of landlord brands such as 7-Eleven, Apple Bank for Savings, AT&T, NY Kids Club, Applebee's, Capital One Bank, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Crunch Gym, Dollar Tree, Gamestop, Marshall's, McDonald's, Modell's, Red Lobster, and Verizon Wireless.
Prior to joining Eastern, Mr. Cohen was a landlord advisor at the Shopping Center Group (SCG Retail) where he developed the landlord services platform for the New York office. While there, Mr. Cohen completed transactions on behalf of Equity Residential, Prana Investments, and J. P. Morgan Asset Management with tenants such as Starbucks, CityMD, Upper Valley Preschool, Yoga to the People and Bio Dry Bar. He also was a Retail Leasing Agent at Ripco Real Estate where he worked with institutional and private ownership groups, providing strategic advice on their portfolios. His tenants included Beth Israel Medical Center, Chef Marcus Samuelsson (Red Rooster Harlem), New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, T J Maxx, and the United States Postal Service, helping each find regional and national locations.
An industry expert, Mr. Cohen has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, the Commercial Observer, and other publications, and is frequently invited to speak on panels at industry events.
