Dan Lyne is a Senior Vice President on the Advisory & Transaction Services team for CBRE. Dan is also on the leadership team of the Global Technology & Media Practice at CBRE, with a specific focus on the interdependence of tech, advanced analytics, and the life sciences. Dan is also a senior advisor on public/private client engagements.
A recognized leader in the Chicago business community, Dan represents tech, bioscience and media companies, both large and small, on complex real estate transactions. His roster of clients includes: PayPal, Motorola Solutions, Spotify USA, Horizon Therapeutics, Xeris Pharmaceuticals, AveXis, Novartis, The University of Chicago, Ventas, Wexford Life Sciences, P33, The American Medical Association, Assertio, Valence Health, Aptinyx, SMS-Assist, Baird Venture Capital, S2G Ventures, ComScore, Clearcover, Lightbank, and the State of Illinois to name a few. As it is his passion, Dan has focused much of his career on addressing talent attraction and corporate culture via the need for transformational and world-class creative space.
Dan is also the co-founder of "1871" - a 170,000 square foot co-working center for digital startups located in Chicago’s famed Merchandise Mart. Two years later, Dan was on the founding team that launched MATTER, a 25,000 square foot co-working venture dedicated to entrepreneurs focused on healthcare innovation.
For nearly a decade as a co-founder of Chicago’s business development arm, World Business Chicago (WBC), Dan led the targeting and management of corporate relocation and expansion projects for domestic and globally based technology firms. During his tenure, WBC was repeatedly recognized and awarded as one of the top international organizations in its field.
Dan was the Co-Founding Executive Director of ChicagoNEXT. Chaired by the Mayor of Chicago, ChicagoNEXT’s primary mission is to further Chicago’s commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship across the tech, media and bioscience industries. Dan was also appointed to the IL Governor’s Advisory Council, a key group of executives focused on advancing the economic growth strategy for the State of Illinois. He is on the Board of Directors and serves as a judge for the annual Chicago Innovation Awards. He is a mentor for TechStars Chicago and is a startup advisor for numerous tech and life science companies throughout the region.
