Professional Background

Fernando Garcia-Chacon leads CBRE’s Hotel Advisory Team in Miami, FL and is responsible for the firm’s Hotel Advisory practice throughout South Florida, the Caribbean and Latin America.  An accomplished commercial real estate / hotel executive with over 25 years of experience, Mr. Garcia-Chacon brings deep hospitality industry experience in addition to a strategic perspective to consulting, asset management and transactional analysis engagements.  His experience includes advising on over $10 billion of hospitality transactions involving large, complex international property portfolios as well as operating platforms throughout South Florida, the Caribbean and Latin America.  Likewise, he has assessed the market and financial viability of hundreds of projects throughout the region’s growing resort areas as well as urban developments.

Experience

Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Garcia-Chacon spent over 10 years at JLL’s Hotel & Hospitality Group where he led their Advisory Practice in Miami with a geographic focus throughout the Southeast US, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America.  Prior to that, he was Development Director for Yum! Restaurants International (KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands) for Latin America.  He also worked with CitiGroup in their in-house real estate group managing that organization’s real estate holdings in the Caribbean and the northern portion of Latin America. Earlier in his career, Mr. Garcia-Chacon was a senior manager at KPMG’s Real Estate & Hospitality Practice where he was responsible for a wide range of consulting assignments covering customer management, strategic issues, business planning, market and financial analysis and development planning for both real estate and hospitality projects.
 
Mr. Garcia-Chacon is proficient in both written and spoken Spanish.  He is a regular speaker at various industry conferences and symposia, including ULI, CHRIS and HOLA.
