John Lenio, Executive Vice President in the Advisory & Transaction Services Practice, is responsible for translating clients' business objectives into smart, executable real estate strategies. He is a member of the Location Incentives group and focuses on identifying, negotiating, and securing economic & tax incentives for CBRE’s corporate clients globally. With over 23 years of experience, John has secured incentive packages valued over $1.6 billion for companies including AT&T, American Express, US Bank, McKesson, Lexmark, and Discover.
John has managed incentive engagements in all 50 States and 10 Provinces in Canada. This has given him unique insight into the nuances of economic development and site selection from primary urban centers to secondary and tertiary communities. In addition, John is a widely sought-after public speaker and subject matter expert in areas of site selection, economic development and tax policy, and tax incentives. He also expands his thought leadership through his writing, having authored numerous articles in trade journals, and through media contribution, having been referenced in the Wall Street Journal, Fox News Online, Arizona Capitol Times, Arizona Republic, Des Moines Register and Centre County Daily Times.
John has been a practicing Economist since 1996 and has become a leading expert on matters of national and regional economic development, multifamily residential development, economic & fiscal impact analysis, and real estate due feasibility studies. He has completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at Arizona State University studying economics (bachelor’s and master’s), business administration (master’s), and quantitative business techniques (certificate).
