Mr. McKinney began his multi-housing real estate profession in 1979, working with a boutique apartment investment firm in Palos Verdes, California. Subsequently, he opened and operated his own multi-housing brokerage firm. In 1993, Mike joined and worked with CBRE for a span of eighteen years. In 2011, he transitioned to Hendricks & Partners, followed by an assignment at Triqor to build their South Bay multi-family presence. Mike rejoined CBRE South Bay in 2017 as First Vice President of South Bay Multifamily. During Mike McKinney’s more than 38 years, CBRE’s multifamily expert has represented hundreds of apartment transactions throughout the South Bay area.
Mike’s transaction experience includes seller and buyer representation, portfolio sales, 1031 exchanges, repositioning strategies and private partnerships. Mike has consistently been named top apartment broker in the South Bay. He has served as a guest lecturer on multi-housing at the UCLA Anderson School of Business, is a member of the South Bay Board of Realtors, and was past president of Torrance Rotary and is currently on the Board of Managers for the Torrance/South Bay YMCA.
Mike’s other outstanding accomplishments include being an award-winning photographer and a top-level Hawaiian outrigger canoe racer.
