Peter Donovan
Professional Experience
Mr. Donovan, a 34-year veteran of the financial services and multifamily industries, joined CBRE in November of 2006 and co-leads the CBRE Capital Markets, Multifamily service line as Executive Managing Director. In his role, Mr. Donovan oversees our Fannie Mae and FHA debt platforms for CBRE throughout the United States. Mr. Donovan was previously the Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Bank Berkshire Mortgage, steering that firm to a market-leading position in government-sponsored multifamily loans. Under Mr. Donovan, Deutsche Bank Berkshire Mortgage's servicing portfolio totaled more than $18 billion - virtually all of it in Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA and affordable housing loans - and the firm originated more than $4 billion in loans annually.
Prior to that he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Berkshire Mortgage Finance, a role in which he directed the production, servicing and asset-management activities of the firm. Mr. Donovan is past Chairman for the National Multifamily Housing Council and is a member of the Urban Land Institute. He is past Chairman of the Fannie Mae Advisory Council, as well as a recipient of the Fannie Mae Larry Dale Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also a past member of the Commercial Board of Governors of the Mortgage Bankers Association. Mr. Donovan has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Trinity College and a Master's in Business Administration from Northwestern University.
