An accomplished corporate real estate (CRE) leader with more than a decade of experience delivering real estate advisory and transactions results for clients, Peter Van Emburgh oversees CBRE's global corporate real estate organization and Workplace360 strategy across its 450-plus office portfolio. With over seven years' experience in CBRE's Global Workplace Solutions (GWS), Peter brings a strong focus on achieving client outcomes coupled with deep experience in strategic consulting services, business analytics, and transaction management.
Previously, as a senior managing director within CBRE GWS, Peter served as the global real estate and portfolio lead for a publicly-traded Fortune 500 technology company headquartered in McLean, VA; responsible for transactions, lease administration, and portfolio strategy across client’s 35M SF portfolio in over 80 countries. Prior to that role, he was the GWS South Division Client Strategy & Consulting lead for delivering tailored advisory solutions to 40+ global occupiers of corporate real estate. As Managing Director and national practice lead of CBRE’s Management Consulting group, he was responsible for delivering advisory solutions focused on CRE organizational design, process optimization, portfolio strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and occupancy cost reduction initiatives to a diverse array of public and private-sector clients.
Peter also led CBRE’s Public Sector Consulting practice where he delivered several high-impact projects, including: recommended organizational realignment initiatives for the Public Buildings Service Commissioner of GSA, developed a dynamic real property authorities inventory model for GSA Office of Disposal, and led the high-priority GSA initiative called Client Portfolio Planning (CPP); delivering over $65M in annual run-rate savings through consolidations which reduced 2M SF across 15 civilian agencies’ real estate portfolios.
Prior to joining CBRE, Peter served in various management consulting roles with PwC and Deloitte, delivering portfolio and CRE organizational strategies for clients in the Washington, DC area.
He is a recognized thought leader and speaker on CRE occupier trends, organizational design, and M&A integration strategies. In 2014, Peter was recognized by CoreNet Global as a “Top 36 under 36” young leader to watch in the CRE industry.
