Randy Gruwell is the Chief Building Engineer for CBRE’s Carlson Companies corporate headquarters account located in Minnetonka, Minnesota. As the Supervisor, Randy is responsible for maintenance and operation oversight of all building systems and critical environments including fire/life safety, mechanical, electrical, lighting, temperature systems and critical environments. Randy identifies safety hazards within the building and incorporates the remediation of such hazards to ensure the building staff and occupants work in a safe environment. He administers and manages all company safety and training programs, while overseeing all engineering staff, construction projects and financial disciplines.
Randy also develops and manages the operational and capital budgets for the account. He makes recommendations to the alliance director on capital projects to ensure the building’s future capabilities and maintenance. He assists the alliance director in the development of supplier’s contracts, while also managing and overseeing the work completed by suppliers to ensure contract obligations are being performed. Randy has earned several distinguished awards including CBRE’s Dark Green Award four years in a row (2010 – 2014), U.S. Green Building Council’s 2011 LEED Silver award and in 2012, CBRE’S Account Excellence Award.
Randy joined CBRE in 1998 and brings over 27 years of management experience in many different fields including hospitality, landscaping, janitorial and building maintenance. Prior to joining CBRE, he was responsible for the management of forty-four accounts through the Minneapolis area.
