Roger Curtis is the Global Energy Manager on the State Street account based in Boston, MA. His role includes creating and implementing the energy and sustainability strategies for the State Street real estate portfolio.He is responsible for the identification of initiatives providing energy & water savings, waste reduction and improving the waste to recycling diversion rate.He is also charged with managing the tracking and reporting of the carbon footprint across all global locations for State Street.Mr. Curtis has been working within the field of energy and facility management since 1982; including the utility, retail and commercial real estate sectors.
Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Curtis was at Macys Department Stores for four years, based in San Francisco California.While at Macy’s Mr. Curtis was the Director of Energy with a footprint of 30 million sq ft and a utility spend of $65 million.He developed and implemented demand response programs, procured natural gas and electricity in multiple deregulated markets, and implemented energy reduction projects.These projects resulted in a savings of 4% to 6% in each of the four years of his tenure. Additionally, Mr. Curtis initiated a renewable energy project resulting in a 6 mega watt solar power project covering approximately 30 roof tops in California and Hawaii.
Prior to this, Mr. Curtis worked at Avista Utilities for 20 years leading the Energy Services Team in providing energy efficiency services to commercial and industrial customers.
