Roy is a results oriented, proactive professional with more than 35 years’ experience in Construction Project Management. He has demonstrated success in delivering projects for clients in the Public and Private sectors, including commercial, telecommunications, financial, institutional and industrial services.
Roy has proven expertise in construction project management and construction law fundamentals from project initiation through to project close-out including a successful track record utilizing leadership, communication, negotiating, budgeting, forecasting and, scheduling skills to meet client and employer expectations.
He started his career in Construction as an apprentice electrician with Plan Electric where he worked for over 25 years. He progressed through Plan Electric as an apprentice, journeyman electrician, electrical foreman, project manager and was then promoted to Service Department Manager.
Since joining CBRE in 2011 as Sr. Director of Project Management for IBM major properties in Canada, Roy and his team have recently completed two major data centers, total budget of $165M. He oversees a project delivery team consisting of regional team leads, senior project managers, project coordinators, project administrators and project control staff. Current value of active projects is approximately $85M.
Prior to joining CBRE he spent 8 years as the Director of Project Management for SNC Lavalin. He managed a team of over 60 employees that included project managers, coordinators and administrators and was ultimately responsible for delivering projects to clients that included Bell Canada, Public Works ( PWGSC), Infrastructure Ontario and the Canadian Broadcast Corporation. He developed and implemented a Project Delivery Methodology that secured the business with CBC and increased annual revenue from $9 to $30 Million.
Roy and his team have delivered over 2,500 projects that met and frequently exceeded client expectations, while continuously exceeding the organization’s profit targets year over year by 15%.
His passion for coaching and mentoring led him to create and deliver training packages on all aspects of project management including Risk Management, Change Orders, Calling & Awarding of Bids and Contractor/Consultant Term Contracts.
Roy is a Licensed Electrician (CET), Construction Estimator Certified (CEC ), Project Management Professional ( PMP ), Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) and has a certificate from the Osgoode law school in Construction Law.
