Mr. Ogasawara champions the company’s strategy to capture more Japanese capital into regional and global markets.
With 35 years of industry experience, Mr. Ogasawara brings comprehensive knowledge of sourcing on domestic and foreign funds; structuring finance deals; supervising international business initiatives; and overseeing the acquisition and management of office buildings, hotels, housing developments and land acquisitions.
Mr. Ogasawara graduated from Waseda University with a degree in Law in 1974 and joined Sumitomo Realty & Development shortly thereafter. His international career began in 1981, when he relocated to Sumitomo’s California-based affiliate. In May 1987, he became Executive Vice President and Head of that firm’s New York office. During his tenure, Sumitomo acquired several high-profile assets, including 666 Fifth Avenue and the JW Marriot Hotel at Century City.
After returning to Japan, Mr. Ogasawara supervised all international business for Sumitomo and subsequently worked in the commercial real estate brokerage business at Sumitomo Real Estate Sales. He also was the Board of Directors for Sumitomo Real Estate Investment Advisors.
Previously, he held the position of Senior Statutory Executive Officer, Head of Real Estate Services at Ichigo Group Holdings. While there, he successfully developed and spearheaded the firm’s real estate sourcing and acquisitions businesses, in addition to leading its Osaka office.
He joined CBRE in 2010.
Mr. Ogasawara speaks both Japanese and English.
