Chuck Marquis is the finance and performance director for CBRE’s Bank of New York Mellon account, which encompasses 12.5 million sq. ft. in locations across the U.S. In this role, he manages finance functions including annual budget preparation, monthly forecasting, strategic planning and management reporting. He establishes overall departmental priorities, and ensures that all deadlines are met. As a proactive, thoughtful leader for a strong finance team, he constantly evaluates account needs and ensures the department’s staff matches those needs, both in terms of quality and numbers—while nurturing his team’s career development with an eye toward progress and retention. Additionally, he facilitates the review and approval of capital expenditure projects in accordance with BNY Mellon guidelines.
Mr. Marquis first joined CBRE in 2010 as the finance and performance director of the firm’s Dow Chemical account, and moved to the BNY Mellon account in 2014. In his previous role, he led an international team that oversaw Dow’s 10.5 million-sq.-ft. global portfolio, which included locations in North America, China, Germany and India. He focused on driving performance and major process improvements for budgeting, cost-effectiveness and working capital acceleration, and conducted senior-level strategic performance reviews. He completely rebuilt the financial planning, budgeting and reporting system for the account, put in place an innovative Key Performance Indicator (KPI) system with a focus on client-relevant metrics, and developed a cost-savings process to drive efficiency—under his guidance, the account ultimately demonstrated $700,000 in improvements.
Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Marquis held various positions at BP from 1999– 2010, including a role as financial project and change manager for BP Supply and Trading, and global planning and performance manager for both BP Solar—the firm’s green energy subsidiary—and BP Fuels Marketing and Supply, after joining the firm as a controller in Business to Business Fuels Marketing and Supply. Prior to his years at BP, Mr. Marquis was a strategic planning consultant for Amoco Midstream, in Trading and Logistics, for three years.
