Professional Experience
Chris Smith is Senior Director and Practice Leader for PJM’s Cost Consultancy service line in North America. Chris leads a dynamic group of Cost Managers and Quantity Surveyors relentlessly focused on superior outcomes for our clients. Within our Cost Consultancy service, our experts bring greater rigor, governance, cost control, and decision-making capability to our clients with specific emphasis on reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) at both the project and portfolio level.
The Cost Consultancy team principally operates as key integrators to our clients’ real estate, transaction management, project management, facility management and finance teams. Globally, CBRE has over 250 Cost Management / Quantity Surveyor professionals operating both at the dedicated account level and the Project Management Platform.
Before joining CBRE in 2015, Chris was on secondment from cost consultant Turner & Townsend to the Goldman Sachs corporate real estate division based in New York. In this role, Chris led a team responsible for capital planning, procurement and cost control for projects across the Americas.
In addition to commercial real estate, Chris has experience leading cost management teams in many large projects across the globe, notably the 2012 London Olympic Games, a $3bn diamond mine for Rio Tinto and the $500m, 180km railway for Brookfield Rail – the latter two projects both in Western Australia.
