Elaine Kleinberg is a Managing Director at CBRE in New York. Since 2018, she has provided legal oversight for CBRE’s New England, Pennsylvania, lower New Jersey, West Virginia and Delaware operations. She also takes an active leadership role in learning and development within the advisory legal practice, including coordinating and conducting trainings and participating in various podcasts. Prior to her role as full-time counsel, for six years Ms. Kleinberg oversaw sales development and management for more than 50 mid-career professionals and ran the broker training program for the entire New York City metropolitan area.
Before joining CBRE’s management team in 2012, Ms. Kleinberg was the General Counsel at Newmark. During her 18 years at Newmark, she was part of a core team of management professionals who grew the company from a small brokerage firm to an international real estate leasing and management conglomerate. As just the second GC in the firm’s history, Ms. Kleinberg created and expanded the firm’s national legal department, overseeing a diverse legal portfolio that included brokerage, property management, leasing, global corporate services and facility management.
Earlier, Ms. Kleinberg was Managing Attorney for Mantell & Haskell, a boutique firm, where she practiced real estate law and landlord/tenant law. She began her career as a real estate consultant with Coopers & Lybrand.
Ms. Kleinberg is committed to mentoring professionals and students and has been on various panels throughout her professional life. She is also passionate about wellness and has led seminars on wellbeing for the legal department. Ms. Kleinberg is a licensed real estate broker in New York, licensed to practice law in New York and Massachusetts and an active member of WX New York Women Executives in Real Estate, an organization committed to advancing and promoting women in the commercial real estate industry.
