Professional Experience

John Hagen is the Global Leader for CBRE’s Sustainability Services organization and is responsible for sustainability services focused on asset performance, energy excellence, and decarbonization for our clients.

John has held various executive and director roles within CBRE’s energy and sustainability organization. Over the course of his career, John has helped develop CBRE's Global Workplace Solutions to become the clear industry leader for sustainability, energy and asset optimization services.

In his current role, he leads a global organization of 200+ sustainability professionals along with centralized sustainability solutioning and energy transformation teams.  These teams develop client sustainability programs, new solutions and service delivery focused on client outcomes. The primary driver is to reduce client emissions, optimize operating cost and mitigate operational risk.

John joined CBRE in 2008 as Director of Energy charged with building an energy organization to support owner and occupier clients with reducing operational cost. From 2011-2017 he was the E&S leader for the West Division and then grew into leading North America for E&S services driving the energy savings, establishing programs to sustain delivery and identifying projects to reduce OPEX across 50+ clients. In 2017 he became the leader of the global E&S organization driving the design, development and establishment of a centralized sustainability organization focused on supporting clients on their carbon reduction journey. Since that time, the team has identified over $500M in energy savings and 1.6M metric tons of emission reductions.
