Reed oversees the Brokerage services teams in the Palo Alto and Burlingame offices and focuses on growing the CBRE footprint and brand in the area.
Reed has 40 years of commercial real estate brokerage experience. Immediately prior to rejoining CBRE, Reed worked at Colliers International as the Executive Vice President overseeing brokerage services for the Silicon Valley. Before Colliers he ran the Northern California and Nevada brokerage operations for Kidder Mathews. Reed began his brokerage career two weeks after graduating from CAL Berkeley with Coldwell Banker (now CBRE) as an Industrial salesman in their Oakland office. Over the years, he has handled over $1.1 billion in Sales and Lease transactions in the office, R&D, industrial and retail sectors. Additionally, Reed has held numerous management and senior management positions with CBRE, Transpacific Development Company, Insignia ESG, Kidder Mathews, and Colliers.
Reed lives in Atherton with his wife of 33 years, Anne Kerwin Payne. Anne has run her own legal recruiting firm, Kerwin Associates for over 30 years. Anne and Reed have 2 children Weston and Madelyn who are now raised. Weston, 31 attended UC Berkeley and was a playing golf professionally for 5 years and is now in commercial real estate. Maddie, 29 attended Boston College, playing soccer for the Golden Eagles and is married to Matt Murray and working for Kerwin Associates.
Anne and Reed support a number of community organizations, especially the Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative (BAWSI) and CAL Athletics. He also serves on the board of the Silicon Valley Brokers Association and is an active SIOR. Reed is a member of Menlo Country Club, having served on the Greens committee, membership committee and the Board of Directors. In his spare time Reed loves to play golf, ski, and hike.
