CBRE Appoints GSA Executive to Lead U.S. Federal Services Team
February 23, 2022
CBRE announced the appointment of Darren Blue to lead the team focused on delivering U.S. Federal Government services within its Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) business.
Based in Washington, D.C., Mr. Blue will guide the delivery of programmatic real estate solutions for U.S. Federal Government clients, utilizing key capabilities across the company’s real estate strategy, program, project, facility and transaction management offerings. The team is particularly focused on delivering solutions that meet cross-government imperatives to enhance portfolio resiliency, efficiency, equity and decarbonization.
Mr. Blue’s appointment builds on CBRE services delivered to over 500 Infrastructure & Public Sector organizations annually today. This appointment follows recent moves by CBRE to enhance its infrastructure and green energy offerings. Last year, CBRE acquired a majority interest in and formed a strategic partnership with Turner & Townsend, a program and project management company with broad expertise in public and private infrastructure. CBRE has also invested in Altus Power, a leading provider of solar energy solutions for commercial and industrial properties.
Mr. Blue joins CBRE from his second tenure as Regional Commissioner of the Public Buildings Service (PBS) for the General Service Administration (GSA) National Capital Region. In this role, he oversaw a quarter of the US Federal portfolio and steered many of its highest profile real estate developments and transactions in the greater Washington, D.C. area. Mr. Blue was also Associate Executive Director for Real Property within the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs. In addition to his work in real estate, he has an accomplished military background, serving the U.S. Army in a variety of Infantry, Special Operations and Intelligence assignments; and continuing his service in the U.S. Army Reserve today.
“Darren’s deep and diverse track record in government operations and procurement processes will greatly enhance our ability to bring the full power of CBRE to government clients seeking to strategically plan, manage capital projects, and improve cross-portfolio operations,” said Darcy Mackay, Sector President for Infrastructure & Public Enterprise at CBRE’s Global Workplace Solutions (GWS).
“We are proud to have such an accomplished military and government leader join our team to lead this integral component of our business,” added Kyle Schoppmann, CBRE Mid-Atlantic Region President.
