CBRE Canada’s Global Workplace Solutions Group Releases Inaugural Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan

April 12, 2022

Plan deepens GWS Canada’s commitment to building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace through active engagement with Indigenous peoples and communities

CBRE Canada’s Global Workplace Solutions group today released its inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), outlining the business’ initiatives to strengthen relationships with and opportunities for Indigenous peoples and communities. The RAP details important milestones in GWS Canada’s Reconciliation efforts over the next 24 months, which will serve as a living document that lays the foundation for future initiatives and evolves as the business makes progress.

“This plan is consistent with our long-held company RISE values -- Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence -- and our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion,” says Ryan Clayton, Country Lead, Enterprise Global Operations, Global Workplace Solutions Canada. “We have laid out a path to create trust and ongoing opportunities for positive impact with Indigenous peoples and communities.”

The goals of the CBRE Reconciliation Action Plan are:

  • Increase Indigenous cultural awareness by educating our people on the histories and rights of Indigenous Canadians and communities.
  • Build meaningful relationships with Indigenous peoples and communities to create trust and ongoing opportunities for positive impact.
  • Promote and sustain supply chain diversity opportunities for Indigenous businesses.
  • Encourage our people to participate in the Reconciliation journey through learning, awareness and participation in Indigenous cultural events.
  • Create an inclusive workplace that honors the history of Indigenous Canadians and celebrates their culture and traditions.
  • Focus on attracting new Indigenous communities and clients for future partnerships and employment opportunities.

CBRE’s diversity, equity and inclusion priorities are to strengthen our inclusive culture in which all feel welcome and valued, expand career paths for underrepresented populations, and improve economic opportunities through increased spending with diverse suppliers.
