CBRE announced it has signed a 17,455-sq.-ft. lease at the Heights Union development located at 2002 North Tampa Street in Tampa. The firm will relocate from 101 East Kennedy Boulevard to Heights Union in the second quarter of 2023 and will occupy the entire ground floor, as well as a private 1,500-sq.-ft. outdoor space equipped with power, Wi-Fi and shaded, functional seating.
The new office is part of CBRE’s Workplace360 program, the company’s long-standing approach to workplace strategy for its corporate offices. The new workplace will showcase CBRE’s “Future of Work” space standards, including innovative technology and a wider variety of collaborative spaces, designed to support hybrid working.
“We recognized a great opportunity at Heights Union where we could create a new flexible, technology-enabled space on the ground level, a place more office occupiers are considering today for greater access to the outdoors,” said Mike DiBlasi, managing director at CBRE. “Our Workplace360 office will offer more spaces to collaborate, and our employees will benefit from a growing amenity base nearby, including the Armature Works development.”
CBRE launched its Workplace360 program in 2012 and has since opened more than 100 Workplace360 offices across the globe. A cornerstone of the Workplace360 model is its “free address” approach where there is no assigned seating. As many companies move to hybrid work models, a free address approach enhances space utilization as all workstations can be used by employees who are in the office on a given day, rather than sitting empty when a desk is assigned to someone who is working remotely for the day. In some cases, that can translate to a slightly smaller office floor plan for a greater number of employees.
"In several of our new locations, including Tampa, we are taking advantage of new amenities that come with these sought-after new developments, such as the private outdoor workspace that will be directly accessible from an open collaboration area of the office,” said Peter Van Emburgh, global head of CBRE’s corporate real estate. “Integrating indoor and outdoor workspaces supports CBRE's wellbeing and sustainability goals to prioritize healthy building environments for our people."
The Heights Union is a Class A, premiere mixed-use development that was completed in 2021. It includes two 150,000-sq-ft. office buildings with a 1,500-space parking garage located in the redeveloped Tampa Heights neighborhood.
CBRE Design Collective will manage the workplace design. Emily Levinson, with CBRE’s Americas Consulting practice, is leading workplace strategy and change management.
CBRE’s Ryan Reynolds and John Heald represented CBRE in the lease negotiations. CBRE’s Jimmy Garvey and Kristin Kenney represented the building’s landlord, Cousins Properties.
