CBRE represented National 4‑H Council, the non-profit partner to 4-H, America’s largest youth development organization, in a new lease at BXP’s Metropolitan Square building at 655 15th Street in downtown Washington, D.C. After the successful sale of its conference center in Chevy Chase, Maryland, National 4-H Council will relocate to its new office in the spring of 2023, which includes 15,000 square feet on the second floor of the Met Square building, located one block from the Metro Center Metrorail station.
“We are excited to call the iconic Met Square building our new home for 4-H in the nation’s capital,” said National 4-H Council President & CEO Jennifer Sirangelo. “It will provide a state of the art collaborative convening space for Cooperative Extension, alumni and youth,” added Sirangelo. “And we’ll also proudly fly the 4-H flag on the building’s rooftop.”
Located in the heart of downtown Washington, Metropolitan Square encompasses three quarters of a city block overlooking The White House, the U.S. Treasury Department, and the National Mall. With easy access to Capitol Hill, the property offers extraordinary views of The White House, Lafayette Park and the Washington Monument. This 12-story Class A building features an array of retail amenities, a full height interior atrium and a three-level underground parking garage with approximately 460 spaces.
“National 4-H Council has played a significant role in the lives of America’s youth for many years. We are thrilled they chose Metropolitan Square, in the heart of DC, for their new headquarters. We look forward to partnering with them as they advance their organization in the years to come,” said BXP Vice President of Leasing, Frank Hyre.
The iconic Met Square underwent $60 million of renovations that were completed in 2020. The extensive renovation program included new atrium finishes and glass, new common areas and private event spaces, and a penthouse rooftop terrace with sweeping views of Washington’s landmarks. A new 15,000 square foot amenity zone provides a variety of offerings for office customers including an atrium lounge, conference facility and multiple collaboration zones, and tenant concierge services. The building is LEED EB-Gold Certified.
“We were thrilled to collaborate with National 4-H Council in finding a state-of-the-art workspace for employees and members to enjoy for years to come,” said CBRE Executive Vice President Scott Frankel. “BXP’s Metropolitan Square illustrates the type of high quality buildings today’s tenants are seeking to offer employees a meaningful and enjoyable experience when they come to the office.”
