In the wake of the great financial recession, the Central London office market experienced sharp downturns in gross office take-up and rental levels. From its 2007 peak to the market’s trough in 2009, the CBRE Central London prime rent office index fell by 34%. Office vacancies rose but remained well below the peaks of previous cycles, demonstrating that this time around, the shape of the cycle was different.
