About the Program
The CBRE Healthcare and Life Sciences Capital Markets Mountain Summit will convene with check-in and registration at 4:00pm on Wednesday, August 3 and will conclude on Thursday, August 4 in the evening with departures the morning of Friday, August 5. Jim McDonough | Headstrong
Chief Executive Officer, U.S. Army Veteran
With behavioral health at the forefront of the healthcare industry, we selected a keynote speaker that is well-established in the space. This year, we are honored to host Jim McDonough (Colonel, U.S. Army, retired) who serves as Chief Executive Officer at Headstrong, a national-facing mental health treatment practice of choice for our nation’s military-connected individuals, veterans, and their family members. Headstrong, veteran-founded in 2012, is one of the nation’s leading mental health care providers for military veterans and their families. They have developed a first-of-its-kind, comprehensive treatment program for veterans addressing conditions like PTSD, anxiety, depression, anger management and more. Treatment is individually tailored and not time-limited to ensure no mind is left behind.
Jim was appointed Director of the New York State Division of Veterans’ Services on April 4th, 2019. Prior to becoming Director, Jim served as Managing Director, at the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University. Jim also served as Chief Executive Officer for Veterans Outreach Center in Rochester, New York, where he led the nation’s oldest continuously serving nonprofit dedicated to the needs of military connected individuals and families. Following his active duty retirement, Jim initially served as Director of the New York State Division of Veterans’ Affairs, followed by a senior fellowship within the New York State Health Foundation, where he managed the Foundation’s veterans’ initiatives and grantmaking. Jim will deliver a dynamic and engaging keynote that tells his unique story and highlights the importance of behavioral health.

Red Sky Golf Club - Fazio CourseThe Tom Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club features a spectacular design measuring 7,116 yards (Par 72) and merges spectacular vistas of Vail's Back Bowls with a variety of terrain to gratify players of all skill levels. Players will make their way through open sage covered hills, dense aspen forest and around a highland lake. The Course is nestled near the legendary Vail and Beaver Creek Mountain Resorts.
Attire: Appropriate golf course attire required. Bring a rain jacket in case of afternoon thunderstorms. Rental clubs will be provided upon request.
Transportation: Transportation will leave from outside the hotel at 12:00 Noon and 12:15 p.m. Please arrive a few minutes early. We will let you know on-site which shuttle you will be assigned.
Fly Fishing in the High Alpine Lake
Come fly-fish in the High Alpine Lake with our expert fishing guides. The bountiful rivers and streams of the Vail Valley offer solace and satisfaction for both beginner and experienced anglers. Small groups of 3-4 guests will each have their own certified fly-fishing guide who will teach you how to fly-fish for brown, cutthroat and rainbow trout. The guides will provide all rods, gear and fishing licenses needed, but guests are welcome to bring their own gear if desired. Please note that all fishing is catch and release only.
Attire: Wear a breathable shirt/sun hoody and pants or shorts. Wear sandals or water shoes with good traction. Bring a rain jacket, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Provided: Fishing license, waders, boots, tackle, and equipment, blankets and rain gear
Transportation: Transportation will leave from outside the hotel at 12:30 p.m. Please arrive a few minutes early.
Hiking
Explore a variety of classic trails surrounding the Vail Valley on a half day guided hike. Unplug while you immerse yourself within the beauty and quiet of the Holy Cross or Eagles Nest Wilderness areas. Discover aspen forests painted with wildflowers. Gain a ridge or stroll beside a wooded stream. Learn the local flora and fauna and enjoy the serenity of the mountains.
Attire: Tennis shoes or hiking shoes/boots are necessary-no sandals. Shorts, leggings, and cargo/hiking pants are all appropriate with a breathable shirt. Bring a backpack to carry extra layers and water. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Provided: Water, light snacks, rain gear, guide, and trekking poles.
Transportation: Transportation will leave from outside the hotel at 12:15 p.m. Please arrive a few minutes early.

Weather
Average daytime highs in early August are in the low-to-mid 70s. Evenings in the mountains can be cold, so be sure to pack a warm sweater or jacket. Weather in the mountains can be unpredictable and change rapidly throughout the day from bright sunshine to thunderstorms with rain.
Attire
Dress for the keynote speaker, cocktail reception and dinner on Wednesday evening is cocktail attire. Dress for the remainder of the conference is mountain casual.
Expenses
Lodging for Wednesday and Thursday nights, the cocktail reception and dinner on Wednesday evening, breakfast on Thursday morning, and the recreational activity of your choice are provided compliments of CBRE. Spouses are welcome to attend all events compliments of CBRE.
Transportation to the resort, extended night stays (based on availability), additional recreational activities, in-room dining and hotel incidentals are the responsibility of the guest.
