Charging stations playing catch-up to soaring electric vehicle market - October 2023

The electric vehicle market is soaring in Southern California. The light-duty zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) population increased by 397% in Los Angeles County from 2017 to 2022. This rapid growth is mounting pressure on charging station and ZEV infrastructure. Owners and managers of commercial real estate need to ensure sufficient power and charging capabilities to support growing ZEV adoption. 

Major electric vehicle manufacturers have grown their presence in Greater Los Angeles, Orange County and Inland Empire (GLA-OC-IE) with industrial and office space dedicated to research and development. Companies in the electric vehicle industry leased over 4.4 million sq. ft. of industrial space in GLA-OC-IE, since 2018.
