Poster Campaign Shows Gratitude for Essential Workers Around the Globe

Seema Moondra, a CBRE project manager in New Jersey, wanted to thank essential workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 fight.

As the leader of the Asian Pacific Network (APN) regional chapter in New Jersey, Seema was planning a “take your kids to work day” event for APN members. When those plans were abruptly canceled because of COVID-19, Seema saw an opportunity to engage employees now working at home—by tapping APN members and their kids to help show our appreciation for essential workers at CBRE. She engaged her local team and national APN Marketing leader, Shanna Green, to help her spread the word.

Together, Seema and Shanna sent out a Yammer call to action to create posters with notes of thanks and photos. Seema and her New Jersey-based team used Yammer to connect more easily with both national and international colleagues. Seema hoped to not only thank essential workers here in the U.S. but to extend that reach to frontline workers around the globe.

The APN chapter exceeded expectations, receiving 42 posters from families in nine states and five countries spanning the United States, Canada, China, Singapore and India. Many hung the posters outside of their homes and submitted photos. Shanna plans to create a collage on Yammer to share of all the posters the team received.
