Despite recession risks entering 2024, hiring activity in Oregon has shown resiliency and generally remained above pre-pandemic levels since March 2021. The downward trend in monthly job openings since July 2022 is noteworthy, however, and as of November 2023, job openings in Oregon are just 2.6% higher than the twelve-month pre-pandemic average of 104,333 jobs.

While scarcity of talent remains a theme for many employers across the U.S., the state is starting to see the emergence of a more historically-balanced labor market.
