The pandemic and the resulting supply chain disruption changed our relationship with manufacturing. For decades, offshoring has been the top priority for firms in driving cost reductions. Now, after years of supply chain fragility and fractured relationships with Beijing, firms are looking to bring manufacturing back to the United States.

 

Rising manufacturing GDP in 11 out of 12 Midwest states has outpaced national growth rates. With ample land available for development and a reliable workforce, the Midwest is ramping up in the race to re-shore.
