Portland Metro Recovery Update

More than two years of pandemic-related work restrictions and public safety concerns have taken their toll on Portland. However, recently published data illustrates how the metro area is returning to pre-pandemic levels of economic activity, despite the barriers to a full recovery in downtown Portland. This data also highlights some of the fundamental strengths that make Portland a desirable place to live, work and play.
Total consumer spending is currently 6% higher than January 2020 levels; meanwhile, local business taxes have increased 32% in the City of Portland since 2019.
