Goals and Objectives
Support the Needs of Our CommunityWe participate in several events throughout the year and partner with many local organizations including Cradles to Crayons, Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity.
Raise Awareness
We leverage the passion and talent of our employees to promote philanthropic efforts and fundraisers in and out of the office.
Promote Positive Change
We develop our own go-getters, risk-takers and leaders to create a real benefit for those in need.
CBRE Cares is supported by CBRE Foundation, a nonprofit, public benefit corporation that funds our company’s philanthropic initiatives.
Communities in Schools
In 2020, our committee organized a variety of activities with CIS. We created cards for students for Valentine’s Day and again in April for encouragement during remote learning. Additionally, we hosted a supply drive and collected 233 new hygiene supplies. The supplies benefited CPS students in North Lawndale and West Garfield Park neighborhoods. In August, we donated $600 towards their mission—empowering students to succeed inside and outside the classroom.
Catholic Charities Giving Tree Drive
Using the Oak Brook bake sale funds, we provided children throughout DuPage County a small gift along with a gift card for a personalized birthday cake. Nicole Fenzel has led this initiative on behalf of CBRE for several years. This year, over 60 children received a birthday cake through the program. In December, we hosted a virtual Giving Tree for the organization. CBRE employees donated $2,800 which was used to purchase 112 gift cards for the clients of Catholic Charities.
Backpack-a-thon
Nearly 30 CBRE volunteers participated in the 4th annual event. In just three hours, volunteers stuffed 50,000 backpacks with school supplies that will be distributed across the city to ensure Chicagoland children are prepared for the 2019–2020 school year. This is part of Cradles to Crayons’ Ready for School initiative which helps alleviate the effects of poverty on school readiness. The program distributes backpacks filled with new, age-appropriate school supplies from the event along with KidPacks filled with shoes, clothing and more.

Cradles to Crayons
Once again, CBRE partnered with Cradles to Crayons to support the Ready for Learning program. The initiative provided 50,000 local children with learning supplies that enabled them to show up and be present for school. In addition to a $10,000 sponsorship, CBRE employees (and their families) created nearly 700 cards to be placed inside the learning kits, exceeding the initial 500 card goal. In December we launched the Winter Gear Drive to collect essential items for children in need.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat Chicago launched the Real Estate Build program last year, enlisting support from the industry's finest. The program is currently focused on building homes in the West Pullman neighborhood. Although CBRE's planned Build Day was canceled due to COVID-19, CBRE contributed $1,500 towards the program.
