Professional Experience

Hugh McDonald is a Senior Vice President in CBRE’s Midtown Manhattan office and a member of CBRE Alternative Investments Practice (AIP), an industry-specific practice group focused on advising private equity firms, hedge funds, venture capital, and other Alternative Investment companies on their real estate strategies in New York City and around the US.

In addition, he has advised law firms, creative agencies, and technology firms. Valued for his high level of client service—for occupiers both large and small—and expertise in Plaza District buildings as well as other high-end assets, Hugh is able to guide his clients skillfully through the real estate process.

Prior to joining CBRE in April of 2016, Hugh worked as a Senior Director & Real Estate Advisor at Hanley Advisors LLC, as a Real Estate Advisor for Vicus Partners and as a Research Analyst for Stribling & Associates.

A native of Australia, Hugh was a professional tennis coach at many of Australia’s leading tennis academies, as well as the Meadow Club of Southampton and the River Club of New York. Hugh attended the University of Oregon and the University of Idaho, where he was a member of both Division 1 tennis teams and an all-Western Athletic Conference athlete and scholar.

In addition, Hugh volunteers his time for a wide range of charitable organizations, including the Robin Hood Foundation, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, NYJTL (New York Junior Tennis & Learning) and the Ironman Foundation.
