Jay Dowlen is a Senior Vice-President with CBRE’s Atlanta Advisory and Transactions Occupier Group and has been exclusively representing office tenants locally and nationally since April 1998, having then left the practice of law to pursue a career in real estate. The decision to walk away from the law was difficult given his passion for his clients and the court room; however, he found that same passion in serving the needs of his real estate clients.

Mr. Dowlen provides brokerage and consulting services to a wide variety of clients to include law firms, professional services firms, technology companies, and multi-market accounts. He is a long-time member of CBRE’s Global Law Firm Practice Group, which specializes in monitoring and understanding the real estate needs of the law firm industry and, as such, has represented a multitude of law firms throughout his career. As a veteran of our company, Jay combines his analytical, transactional and negotiation capabilities with the full arsenal of CBRE's resources to achieve best-case results for his clients.

Mr. Dowlen earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, where he served in leadership roles with a number of student organizations, and then graduated from the Mercer University School of Law. While at Mercer, Mr. Dowlen was selected for membership to the Order of Barristers and was a member of Moot Court, having represented Mercer on its Intrastate and National Moot Court teams.  During his legal career, Mr. Dowlen clerked for the Supreme Court of Georgia and Martin, Snow Grant & Napier, served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Griffen Judicial Circuit and practiced with Garland, Samuel & Loeb.

A native of Atlanta, Jay has dedicated his time over the years to his beloved Alma Maters in The Marist School and The University of Georgia where he served as its Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, its 10th Year Class Reunion Chair, and continues to advise various student organizations.  Likewise, with The Marist School, he has served in various roles to include Chairman of the Alumni Golf Tournament and on Capital Campaign Steering Committees and Lead Gifts Committees for prior campaigns. However, his most favorite times have been spent coaching both of his daughter’s softball teams at NYO - go Predators!
