John Alston

As Alliance Director on the Providence Health System Account, John leads a team responsible for comprehensive real estate services across Providence’s 18M SF, 750 site outpatient and administrative portfolio. In this role, John leads a team of 225 professionals across diverse service lines including Property & Facilities Management, Transaction Management, Real Estate Strategy & Occupancy Planning, Construction Project Management, Lease Administration, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, Energy & Sustainability, Finance, HR, and HOST/Concierge services.

Prior to his role as Alliance Director, John served as Sr. Director leading all service delivery over Providence’s 8M SF North Division outpatient portfolio.  In addition to running operations,  John  focused on driving operational efficiency and performance in existing lines of business while taking a leadership role in special CBRE and client initiatives including business development and contract renewal efforts, supporting the return to work and administrative portfolio strategy development including the sale and leaseback of Providence’s headquarters campus, developing a system-wide Program Management Office to drive consistency in project capital delivery, and partnering with our A&T team on developing a best in class clinical real estate strategy program.

Prior to joining the Providence Account in 2019, John led the Portfolio Services team on the Starbucks Coffee Company Account, where he worked closely with Starbuck’s Financial Lease Administration and Real Estate Contract Services teams.  John and his team were responsible for supporting Starbucks in their administration of over 6,500 landlord relationships throughout the US and Canada. John joined the Starbucks team in 2011 and grew the team from a 6-person onsite team in Seattle to a 75-person team covering shared service centers in Memphis, Manila and Mexico City.  The Starbucks PS team still stands as the largest dedicated Portfolio Services team in the company.  Prior to leading the Portfolio Services team, John worked as a Transaction Manager focused on Starbucks Retail Site optimization.

John started his career as a financial analyst and joined CBRE in 2008 on the Group Health Cooperative Account as a Senior Portfolio Analyst and later Portfolio Manager.
