John Parrett sources and structures capital markets solutions for owners of multifamily and commercial real estate properties nationwide. His areas of expertise include industrial logistics, multifamily, student housing, build-to-rent, mixed use, office, retail and single-tenant properties.

John and his partners in CBRE’s downtown Chicago office have long-standing relationships with life insurance correspondents, debt funds, domestic and international banks, and securitized capital providers. They are also a direct originator of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae loans. These extensive relationships enable the creation of an optimal capital structure for each deal, providing flexibility while maximizing investment returns.

Since joining CBRE in 2006, John has been directly involved in the origination, underwriting, structuring and closing of over 250 transactions totaling more than $8.2 billion. Prior to joining CBRE, John was at PGIM where he originated and underwrote first mortgage and mezzanine debt for their balance sheet, bridge, securitized and GSE lending programs.

CBRE Capital Markets Debt & Structured Finance Chicago downtown team specializes in raising capital on behalf of commercial real estate owners throughout the United States. With a diverse client base that includes institutional, fund and private real estate owners, the team has raised over $18.5 billion since 2014.

We originate debt and equity capital for all major property types including multifamily, industrial and logistics, office, life science, retail, hospitality and technology properties nationwide. Areas of expertise include financing existing properties as well as construction financing, with experience throughout the capital stack.

Our team’s experience allows us to quickly identify and achieve optimal financing structures (most competitive pricing, terms, flexibility) via our extensive network of debt and equity relationships. We have long-established relationships with the industry’s premier capital sources, including life insurance companies, banks, fund capital, agencies (Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae), credit companies, conduits/CMBS, pension funds, institutional equity, and international investors.
