John Shlesinger is a Vice Chairman in CBRE’s Advisory & Transaction Services | Occupier practice, as well as the leader of CBRE’s Atlanta Consulting Group, which provides strategic planning, financial structuring and transaction management services to occupier clients.
With his business partner of 37 years, Sam Holmes, Mr. Shlesinger has successfully negotiated over 100 million square feet of leases and sales, and have been involved in 8,600 acres of land transactions, all with a total value in excess of $22 billion.
The team provides strategic solutions and portfolio optimization initiatives to a diverse range of clients, from Fortune 500 corporations to technology startups, the duo has made a name for themselves by structuring the most creative deals in the industry and carry more respect among the development community than any other team in Atlanta.
In 2011, Mr. Shlesinger and Mr. Holmes were the top tenant representation brokers in the United States for CBRE, and in 2010, Ernst & Young and the Atlanta Business Chronicle named their work on NCR’s relocation to Atlanta the “leasing transaction of the decade.” Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Shlesinger was a Vice Chairman at Insignia, where he opened the Atlanta office, was the company’s top revenue producer in aggregate production over his four-year tenure, and led its integration into CBRE in 2003.
No matter the size of the deal, they approach all assignments with the same intensity and attention to detail. With a track record of going the extra mile to understand a client’s business model, in many cases they are considered “team members” by their clients and they are “accessible and responsive above and beyond the call of duty.” Their consultative approach and depth of resources maximizes value for their clients and sets them apart from other brokers. Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Shlesinger was a Vice Chairman at Insignia, where he opened the Atlanta office, was the company’s top revenue producer in aggregate production over his four-year tenure, and led its integration into CBRE in 2003. He began his career at Cushman and Wakefield in 1983 and left as the youngest Executive Managing Director in the country.
A sixth-generation Atlantan, Mr. Shlesinger gives back to his community by serving on a number of non-profit boards and is a partner in a company based in St. Croix, Dimension. Married, with two children, he and his wife have also been named as one of the top 200 art collectors in the world by Art News for the past four years.
